RUNWAY: Dolce&Gabbana SS18
There was a lot to digest at Dolce&Gabbana's latest runway show, from the ornate set decorations to the hodgepodge of clothing to the disparate cast. The two designers behind the label once again leaned on their Italian heritage and this was manifested, in part, by offering religious prints on clothes. This predilection to religious regalia seems to explains why the designers are so sanctimonious, continuously alleging other designers and houses of copying their designs. However, when you look at this collection and their previous ones, it's clear that they too borrow from others. Frankly, it's how the industry works, that's how trends are set: a design is so interesting that it spreads like wildfire through the industry.Everything and the kitchen sink was shown here, from well cut suits thrown on to a table to be bedazzled with shiny things or covered in eye watering patterns while oversized outfits that seemed wholly out of place among the well tailored pieces. As for their kitschy tee's that opined a boycott of the brand elicited only one reaction from this review: don't threaten me with a good time.
