RUNWAY: DSquared2 FW15
Canadian twins
Dean and
Dan Caten kicked off Milan Fashion Week a day early with a collection that celebrated the twins' 20 years since starting
DSquared2. How quickly the time has passed since the pint-sized design duo captured the fashion world with their high octane shows and sexy wares. For FW15, there were nods to their native Canada but mostly alluded to the Wild West, with plenty of fringe, cowboy-esque hats and low slung denim, a signature of theirs. There were also hilariously oversized fur hats, some too big to fit the heads of the models who wore them. Speaking of fur, there was plenty of it. They can only celebrate 20 years of the label once, why not create a maximist collection full of luxe furs, beading and leather? That's what they provided, all wrapped up in their signature mix of sex and youth culture. It didn't hurt that the finale showcased not only flashy tuxedoes but the musical stylings of
Mary J. Blige.
