Paris Fashion Week FW11 Trends

Looking at the offerings for Fall/Winter 2011 from Paris Fashion Week, three very clear trends could be seen: the reemergence of the duffle coat, wide brimmed hats, and the biggest trend: fur.

Duffles coats are usually seen on Fall/Winter collections but for Fall/Winter 2011, designers went crazy for the coat, with Raf Simons showing multiple versions, John Galliano showing a boxy and cropped version and Acne showing on that was almost to the foor. All are chic and sure to keep the wearer warm in the cold winter months.

Also a very big trend was the appearance of wide-brimed hats. Lanvin opened their collection with a tipped hat, reminiscent of Old Hollywood glam, a la Casablanca. While Junya Watanabe showed multiple fedoras in different fabrics. Then there was Dior Homme whose hats had an air of the Amish.

But the biggest trend for Fall/Winter 2011 was indeniably fur. It was on practically every runway both in Milan and Paris. It was inescapable. Designers like Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy showed multiple iterations of fur like this fur vest. Over at Jean Paul Gaultier's runway, the uber-fabulous and beautiful Andrej Pejic wore a fox coat cinched at the waist, with heels. Then Dries Van Noten allowed his devote clients to decide if they wanted to wear fur or not. Dries had attachable fur collars on almost all of his garments like on this blazer.
