Jean Paul Gaultier shuttered his men's line a few years ago and has since concentrated mostly on his highly lucrative fragrance empire and in terms of fashion, he stuck mostly with haute couture. But for his FW18 couture collection, menswear came back into focus with a collection that is deeply rooted in tailoring and of sex, of course. The former showed itself in the sharply cut suits with strong Northern African influences while bare nippled models closed the show and others were opening "smoking", as if post-coitus. Does this mean that Gaultier, and by extension the label's corporate owner Puig, will jump back into menswear? Probably not but what a treat this was.

Today marked the end of an era in fashion as Jean Paul Gaultier showed his last ever ready-to-wear collection. The occasion was marked by a large turnout of friends and wellwishers who wanted to toast to one of the original enfant terribles of fashion. This collection was full of life, with homages to the past, but still full of modernity. Five male models, including Francisco Lachowski and Tobias Sorensen, escorted veteran models down the runway and added a bit of eye candy for the surely-tired fashion set who've been traversing countries and continents these past few weeks.

Jean Paul Gaultier has been shocking fashion lovers around the world for decades. So it's with no surprise that his SS14 presentation had some gender-bending aspects, though this is not nearly as shocking as it was in previous decades. As disappointed as many might have been that Gaultier opted not to show a full fledged runway show once again, he made up for it by creating a light and airy collection with prints and patterns that, relatively speaking, were not that loud. Chipped tiles, brick, foulards and florals all made cameos throughout the presentation while elongated shirts paired with either a light jacket and tight pants that double as leggings, were quite on trend.

Australian model Andrej Pejic returns once again to Jean Paul Gaultier's runway, mere days after appearing in the French couturier's men's show. Andrej wears a shimmery gold sequined dress with strong shoulders and a revealing bodice, all done up in the most expensive fabrics and all sewn by hand, as one would expect from a haute couture show.

French couturier and the original enfant terrible had no problems putting men on display for his Fall/Winter 2013 collection. Jean Paul Gaultier felt inspired by Amsterdam's Red Light District by displaying models in similar enclosures, as they dressed, or undressed, in Gaultier's creations. Of these designs, there was a strong emphasis on dramatic pieces with plenty of flair, like a showstopping A-line jacket with strong ruffle detail or attractive geometric patterns on a sweater. The presentation ended with some of Gaultier's favorites in various states of undress, many of whom, like Andrej Pejic and Tarik Lakehal, wore wool onesies.

Paris' original enfant terrible created an ode to the 1980s in a rip roaring show that showed male models in a litany of body-bearing outfits, some fashioned to resemble Gaultier's most iconic pieces, while others were in heels and leather.

RUNWAY: Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture FW12 Details

Running nearly 90 minutes late Jean Paul Gaultier's latest haute couture collection caught more than a few journalists and buyers a bit miffed at the late start. Though when the show did commence, Gaultier offered a reworking of his most iconic pieces from tuxedos done up with sexy silhouettes to corsets and an ode to Hollywood, or to Cannes, since the couturier was a judge at the recent Cannes Film Festival. At any rate, for the FW12 couture collection, Gaultier showed a vampy collection on male models like Willy Cartier, Paul Boche and Andrej Pejic.
