RUNWAY: Ralph Lauren FW18
Like his American counterpart, Tommy Hilfgire,
Ralph Lauren has no abandoned the see-now-buy-now model and so with this iconic 50th Anniversary collection came a collection that was an embrace of the modern American ideal. Its embrace of diversity (multigenerational, interracial, same-sex, among other) hit a high note with a flurry of models in iteration of Ralph Lauren staples from utility pants, polos, sailing-themed layers and, of course, rugged luxury via patchworked bottoms paired with a lux fur coat. In all, the sheer amount of products, product lines and the production value on show here, along with a myriad of models of various ages, shows the force and influence of the Ralph Lauren brand. In case you're wondering, the audience included some of the most influential people in America from Oprah Winfrey to various celebrities to a Presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton.
