RUNWAY: Alexander Wang x H&M
A few weeks after the conclusion of fashion week, editors and other fashion cognoscente arrive in New York to see Alexander Wang's capsule collection for fast fashion retailer H&M. The result was an all-black collection that played less on New York City's un-official color and more on reductive designs from Wang, including oversized puffers, neoprene sweatsuits, and plenty of trimmed detailing highlighting that it's all about the Wang.Like most of H&M's capsule collections, this will sell well because of its price point, allowing teens and struggling 20-somethings a bit of the fashion dream at affordable prices; so who cares if the offerings are as exciting as the color palette? Consumers of fast fashion designs will be smiling after their purchases, so too will Wang and H&M as they smile all the way to the bank.
