RUNWAY: Louis Vuitton SS12

Louis Vuitton's SS12 collection was Kim Jones' first run as head designer for Louis Vuitton homme, under the direction of Marc Jacobs. Jones previously held head designer position at Dunhill, so the British designer is well versed on how to cut an exceptional suit and that much was evident with the first look, which sported cropped trousers. The rest of the collection had a African Safari feel to it, maybe it was the beautiful safari jackets that went down the runway or the rugged looks that heralded the feel; either way, it was effortless.

Since this is Louis Vuitton, there were gorgeous bags in multiple finishes and fabrications. Jones also showed some beautifully exotic skins as outerwear, like a crocodile jersey jacket worn by Johnny George. In the end, Jones ushers in a new Vuitton man, though not completely dissimilar to the Vuitton man under former designer Paul Helbers. This man though is wealthy, enjoys beautiful things and can afford only the best and that is what Jones has offered to them...as the rest of us ogle with envy.
