RUNWAY: DSquared2 SS12
DSquared2's SS12 collection took us on a Euro trip. Starting with colder summers spent in Scandinavia, where light layers are utilized to keep warm. The looks here reminds us of the twins' FW11 collection, with wooly socks and heavy boots, done in the bright colors Dean & Dan prefer. Next the boys take us to the warm and beautiful beaches of the Aegean Sea where swimsuit bodies are a necessity while swimsuits themselves might not be. But for the runway, they showed a wide range of body conscious swim and lounge wear, the former being one of their strengths. The last two stops offered more sophisticated clothes and whenever tailoring is involved, we see where DSquared2 truly excels. Starting with the sportswear look worn by Adrien Sahores until the evening look by Andrea Preti, the looks are absolutely breathtaking. The tailoring has never been better and the styling is pristine. Finally we're taking into the world of punk rock London, with bright colors and "guyliner" are mainstays. Here the clothes are still well tailored but inch towards too gimmicky. However, in all, DSquared2 presented a very strong collection amid a flurry of bells and whistles.
