RUNWAY: Tommy Hilfger FW11
The All-American preppy aesthetic that helped build
Tommy Hilfiger's brand into a fashion empire looked to the 70s for its latest collection. There were toggle coats, loose fitting trousers, as well as a few chunky horizontal stripes seen on outerwear, knitwear and accessories. Hilfiger has always used music to help drive demand and create buzz for his line; in the 1990s, his collaboration with many hip hop artists made him a household name. Now it seems Hilfiger is infused some Rock n' Roll into his collections, to create a jolt of energy in the brand.
