Climate change is on the mind of many - just ask the thousands of school-aged kids who walked out of their schools around the world a few weeks ago to protest the lack of action to curb, slow or stop climate change. It is also on the mind of Mihara Yasuhiro, evidenced here by his Spring/Summer 2020 collection rooted in a morose take on dressing - with references to hazmat suits, construction workers and overpopulation (how many faces can one fit into a pair of trousers?).

Everyone has a laundry list of things to do everyday and Mihara Yasuhiro's includes appliquéing patches and other pieces of clothing on to his garments. This was the starting point at his SS19 collection which offered intriguing new combinations to create youthful and urbane looks.

Miharayasuhiro's Spring/Summer 2018 collection was punk infused with a modern twist, complete with hashtags on the garments.

A gang of men and women strode the runway at Miharayushiro's FW17 show in monochromatic looks full of softly tailored pieces. "Cozy" comes to mind when looking at the collection with rounded shoulders, comfy looking knits and a relaxed silhouette.

Almost everything was slightly askew at Mihara Hasuhiro's Spring/Summe 2017 show, with models walking up a bowling lane in an homage to Americana. Plaid shirts, oversized, ripped apart and put back together, was a big notion from the Japanese designer. Meanwhile, cowboy references and blue collar worker uniforms were also seen, as were oversized zippers on many of the items which looked comical, youthful and instantly covetable. The haphazard styling and DIY-esque nature of the clothes seemed less of an homage by the end.

Denim and multiply layers were de rigueur at Mihara Yasuhiro's Fall/Winter 2015 collection, there was plenty to take in, from patchwork knits to leather jackets to joggers, styled to the hilt with layers.

A bit of paisley here, some cheetah print there and a lot of attitude was what Miharayasuhiro had in store for its SS15 collection. The collection's look centered around layers, with summer coats over long knits over elongated shirts over shorts. The rock vibe was most prominent in the denim offerings, with raw edges, looking a bit distressed. Meanwhile, the sportier elements shined through and could be seen on light handed take on tailoring, with athletic inspired pants, some of which had drawstring detailing, but always rolled up to reveal a bit of skin or thick athletic socks.

Japanese designer Mihara Yasuhiro looked to the 60s when designing his Fall/Winter 2014 collection, shown via a static presentation in lieu of his usual runway show. The sporty and print laden collection added a dash of 60s frivolity by adding metallic pockets on a well tailored military coat or stripe detailing on a marvelous herringbone coat over tapered trousers with military-green cuffs. Yasuhiro continues to create chic and interesting fashion but is often eclipsed by the big houses that garner far more attention, a static presentation is not a way to garner the attention and praise he deserves.
