John Varvatos and his ties to the music industry are strong and can be seen throughout his career so it's no longer that he chose to show his latest collection during Grammy's weekend, which returned to New York City after 15 years. What did he have in store for what he called John Varvatos 2.0? First, there's a collaboration with Nick Jonas, which the singer wore the show on Sunday, naturally. Secondly, the collection had a rustic chic aspect with beanies, beautifully fabricated coats, woolen socks and a woodsy backdrop that tied it all together.

Sleek rocker apparel is a mainstay at John Varvatos' collections and it was present at his FW17 collection, which closed out New York Fashion Week Men's. What was new were the shrunken jackets in leopard print, added an cannibalistic element to the monochromatic looks, which harped on many of the style codes Varvatos is known for.

John Varvatos once again closed out New York Fashion Week: Men's with a collection rooted in a rock sensibility. The archetype of his collections follows a winning formula of fitted jackets, slim trousers, boots, and a scarf tied around the neck. There are no traditional suit and tie looks here, instead the collections offers subtle differences, with this season focusing on super lightweight fabrics on deceptively heavy-look clothes. In the end, if the formula ain't broke, why fix it?

Stripes, Rock n' Roll, and a canopy of umbrellas above was how John Varvatos concluded the inaugural season of NYFW:M. The formula at Varvatos has always rang true and hits the right spot for his legion of followers and customers. The collections are often similar, with a new bag here, a bold new pattern there, a switch of weight of the suit fabrics but the essence is the same. With Varvatos being one of the most venerated designers showing a full show during this all-important expo of American fashion talents, it's easy to see why he wouldn't want to fix something that isn't broken and proves why he works with some of rock's biggest names like Kiss and Jimmy Page.

Leather pants and a double belted military jacket kicked off the latest collection from the musically-inclined designer John Varvatos. Autumnal shades complemented the foliage that made up the runway and though there were hints of Varvatos' signature hard rocker aesthetic. The hard-to-miss musical elements came in the form of a guitar case that matched the coat worn by Fernando Cabral to scarfed models in chunky striped suits, which is this designer's signature. What felt modern and on-trend were the military inspired tailoring, something so ubiquitous that many looks from different designers (and cities) can be interchangeable. But with Varvatos' own aesthetic shining through, it was hard to mis-ID this collection.

John Varvatos' ethereal setting was an indication that the the moody rocker he's so fond of might have woken up during daylight hours and the result was cool collection that melded Varvatos' love of Victorian-style outerwear with more modern elements. Crinkled jackets in clean hues like white and cream started the collection and never strayed too far from the Varvatos aesthetic of rocker chic, complete with a litany of summer scarves neatly tucked between layers.

Few bands could ever single handedly encompass an entire genre of music but that's exactly what KISS does. The glam rock band was one of the first and the most famous. The band fronts the SS14 campaign and made a cameo at John Varvatos' FW14 show during Milan Fashion Week where rock and roll was the theme, with a healthy dose of face paint to commemorate the legendary band's presence. Rock and roll is Varvatos' niche and he excelled in it today with a dark collection that focused on texture and fabric to add some glam, like croc-embossed sleeves to furry accents. The all-white finale was a great reprieve from the dour blacks and greys earlier in the collection.
