RUNWAY: Versace SS19

Versace has always been about confidence; wallflowers do not wear Versace. It is for confident men and women, those who do not wish to fit into a mold but rather break those molds and push through those glass ceilings. And so that was the point of Versace's Spring/Summer 2019 collection, one that said I don't give a flying !$@* what you think, this is me. This sort of confidence came in multiple forms, from bright all-floral patterned outfits to tiny shoulder bags slung across the body to fluoro suits to emblazoning headlines about one's self on their clothing. In today's social media-heavy world, where every action can be tracked and feedback immediate, the confidence to "speak out" - as the newspaper headlines on the clothing here say - is brave. Bravery, while not always a synonym to confidence, is also at the heart of this strong and thoughtful collection.
