RUNWAY: Alexander McQuene SS16
The
Alexander McQueen label has gone through quite a bit change since its namesake designer left this world. It's been over five years since his death and the label that bore his name is thriving. Take the label's Spring/Summer 2016 collection's strong tailoring stance: from the structured overcoats to well made suits, tailoring is clearly is at heart of the collection...and the label. Other elements included fun and kitschy takes on modern culture, like "Legendary" printed on a sea-themed outfit while the idea of taking off to sea brought the collection together, from those sailing-inspired overcoats that kicked off the show to the patterned jumpsuits and pajama-inspired outfits. This is McQueen, after all, so there were some subversive elements, take the grommet-holed peacoats, austere, straitjacket snug tailoring and the wet hair on the models that signaled just a bit of insanity.
