RUNWAY: No. 21 FW15

Alessandro Dell'Aqua's latest collection for No. 21 (pronounced numero ventuno) shakes up the Milan fashionscape with a beautiful and elegant collection that balances quirk and fun with serious tailoring. Suits, in classic patterns like windowpane, were slim and close to the body, even double breasted numbers seemed to hug the wispy models' bodies. A calculated reversal of the day-to-evening runway show was a nice touch: black and blue designs, centered on tailoring were shown first, then gradually ending with fun and sporty numbers including striped trenches and mixed media jackets. In all, the mesh of sport and tailoring actually was youthful, fresh and clean at No. 21 rather than trying to be, like so many have attempted thus far this season.
