RUNWAY: Balmain FW14
Since
Olivier Rousteing took the helm at
Balmain, the focus on rigid, military inspired tailoring and a haggard, rocker look has been shifting, at a glacial pace, much like menswear as whole. Fall/Winter 2014 seemed to be one of the first realizations of Rousteing's vision for menswear. It's softer, with square jackets, a bit of animal print or camouflage, and a plethora of buttery soft leathers that would make almost anyone count their pennies to try to own a piece. There were, of course, hints of the house's new codes, the one set up by the prior Creative Director, but this collection is all Rousteing!
