RUNWAY: Alexander McQueen FW14
Sarah Burton's dark and ominous Fall/Winter 2014 collection for
Alexander McQueen was quite good, with a backdrop of a Gothic-style cathedral. Since taking the helm at McQueen, Burton has fallen short at achieving the sort of fervor and sense of wonder that her former mentor produced with his mens collections. For FW14, it was like the menswear had come back to life, like a phoenix, which could explain the harrowing headpieces the models wore. Other notes worth mentioning are the geometric patterns seen on knits and suiting, as well as the layered suiting, with many featuring kilts, which was a nod to McQueen's Scottish heritage.
