RUNWAY: Jil Sander SS14
Jil Sander is known for her hyper-minimalist aesthetic so when she decided on a new silhouette, one with voluminous proportions, it was quite jarring to the senses. But after we got accustomed to this new look, we quite liked the crisp whites she chose while the soupy shorts ended up feeling quite fresh and new. The monochromatic palette was electrified by strong jolts of oranges and reds from an orange and white short suit to a burnt orange overcoat, it was just the right amount of color to heighten the senses while the plastic-y coats were supremely chic. Sander has previously bashed
Raf Simons' vision for her house during his eight year stint but to us, it seems the two have more in common when it comes to the identity of thee Jil Sander label than Sander would like to admit.
