RUNWAY: Marc by Marc Jacobs FW13
Marc Jacobs always causes a stir during Fashion Week. Sometimes for the fashion he presents and other times just for causing a big shuffle. He did the latter this season by pushing back his shows during NYFW due to weather-related issues; items that were to be shipped from Europe could not make it to New York in time. Fast forward to tonight's
Marc by Marc Jacobs show. It was retro and fully embraced the 1970s: bellbottoms, big hair and hippie culture. Bold and graphic patterns livened up the collection that's always quite youthful and free. Like many designers, Jacobs chose a particular decade-long-gone to focus on and find inspiration. Though the 1970s were over 40 years ago, Jacobs' ability to create modern clothes, helped by a strong style compass, made this collection just right for the modern young man.
