RUNWAY: Burberry Prorsum FW13
Christopher Bailey and
Burberry continue to remind us that Burberry, at its heart, is an English brand, showcased by a backdrop of Big Ben and other notable London landmarks. For Fall/Winter 2013, Bailey didn't show a stripped down collection but rather it a
striped collection. Animal prints were aplenty on the catwalk, from leopards to tigers, oh me! Also seen were animal hair, like horsehair fashioned to resemble leopard print. Burberry is also synonymous for its outerwear, especially the trenchcoat, and there were plenty of coats to pick from. A wide range included oversized coats that were paired with Burberrys notoriously skinny cigarette pants to create a top-heavy silhouette, while other coats were military inspired and well tailored; the finale saw a handful of rubber Mackinstoshes. The classic Burberry check was accompanied by animal print as well.
