RUNWAY: Prada FW12

Miuccia Prada showed her dominance and influence today's Fall/Winter 2012 runway show. Sure, there were new exclusive models but the pièce de résistance were the over 10 actors who walked the runway in Prada's return to sartorial ready-to-wear. In what is probably Prada's most off-the-runway wearable collection in many seasons, FW12 showcased powerful, militaristic men, almost to a dictatorial severity. Also a part of the collection were slim round framed glasses that felt like a dark take on John Lennon's preferred style. Gone were the kitschy and almost-tacky golf references of SS12 or men-in-skirts; Prada staked a claim on menswear today and for a company that has only been on the stock market for 6 months (with a floundering market price), the creative head of the company said, "This is Prada. Take notice." And everyone did.
