RUNWAY: Lanvin FW12
Lanvin's mens director
Lucas Ossendrijver was clearly inspired to return to the 1970s' era of excess, suavity and glamour. Trousers were long and full, puddling at the bottom, while tops offered more range, some where skin tight, while others draped the body just-so. The exceptional outerwear was the pièce de résistance, every piece from the oversized camel overcoat to the all the ones with fur accents, they were luxurious, opulent and modern. The fear when it comes to creating a 70s inspired collection is creating a one that looks to be taken directly from the 1970s and pretending it is for modern times. Thankfully, that did not happen under the watching editing eyes of Ossendrivjer and Creative Director
Alber Elbaz. Though there were strong hints of the 70s, the collection felt modern and fresh, or in other words, very Lanvin.
