RUNWAY: Givenchy FW12
Riccardo Tisci put on a memorable show for Fall/Winter 2012. There were the typical
Givenchy sights, like skirts and covetable prints. For Fall/Winer 2012, there was a different feeling, rather than dark and deeply religious, it felt almost uplifting. The collection was yet another melange of black on black on more black but there was a lightness to the collection that could be attributed to its patriotic feel, with a litany of stars and stripes throughout the collection. Though Tisci hails from Italy, the collection felt very American, maybe referencing to the American Presidential showdown in November, a clear signal of change for the country and maybe signaling change at Givenchy. The highlight of the show came towards the end when models donned clothing in a lighter palette, with hints of red, white, and blue, as well as three outfits sewn with beige paillettes, it then evolved into a bright explosion of red, with a
dénouement of demure and chic sportswear.
