RUNWAY: Yohji Yamamoto SS12
Upon quickly scrolling through the collection, you would think that
Yohji Yamamoto followed
Rick Owens' cue and showed men in skirts. You would be wrong because Yamamoto opted instead of superfluously wide pants. The result was dramatic and, at times, beautiful. The pants, paired with crisp white shirts and a color palette that ranged from black, white, navy, turquoise, and various pastels, were a bit confusing in their references. Though the pants signaled a clear Asian references, the shirts and hats hinted at Amish homages. There was a disconnect in the references but that didn't take away from the elegance of the collection.
