RUNWAY: Prada SS12

Prada is one of the most polarizing shows every season, both in mens and womenswear and it was no different this time around. For Spring/Summer 2012 Miuccia catered to the golfing set. Ironically, she said backstage that she "hates" golf. It is no surprise then that as she puts the sport front and center for SS12, glorifying it, but also mocking it at the same time. The wild prints were welcome as the rest of the fashion houses thus far have presented nearly monochromatic collections, also welcome were the bejeweled western shirts she showed. The styling and the message were classic Prada: geeky and ironic and mixed with some of the more ludicrous elements it melded together into a beautiful collection. Or to be more exact: a beautiful disaster. Yes, that is meant to be complimentary.
