RUNWAY: Dior Homme SS12

Kris Van Assche offered more of the same type of clothes that we saw yesterday during the SS12 collection of his eponymous line. That is, until halfway through the show when he showed some spectacularly well tailored and modern pieces, with lambskin accents in a rich browned-butter color. What doesn't, or hardly ever, translates well with Kris Van Assche and his two lines, especially Dior Homme, are the fabrics he uses. These are not plain cottons, wools, and cashmeres you buy at H&M or Zara but these fabrics are the absolute richest and most luxurious available and are then tailored to the hilt. Though the argument could be made that his design aesthetic is quite repetitive, the counter arguement could be made that because his tailoring skills are so exact that the designs cannot help but repeat itself because once something works, it works.
