RUNWAY: Cerruti SS12
Cerruti's been under mired with some big corporate changes the past few months: the French-based company was bought by a Chinese firm and their womens line was axed so that the brand can focus entirely on the mens lines. Too often there are conflicts between corporate owners and the creative team on the direction of the brand. The former, of course, wants commercial success while the latter wants to be able to flex their creative prowess. That conflict could be felt with this collection, which is sad as the the creative vision (from
Zoran Bosanac) and the designers (
Sachiko Okada and
Aaron Sharif) seemed to clash with an assortment of pieces that didn't mesh and seemed too eager to sell to anyone willing to buy. We hope that they figure out a compromise because it would be a shame that the hallowed halls of Cerruti will be marred by infighting.
