RUNWAY: 3.1 Phillip Lim SS12

Phillip Lim presented his SS12 collection in Paris once again and if the first few looks were an indication then it said that Lim was all about ombre. Ombre, when done properly, can be very chic and create dimension and intrigue for an outfit. When done improperly, it looks like a tie-dye project gone awry. Thankfully, Lim's collection was beautiful, especially a deep blue-green pant that turned into a crisp white; it is elongating and very well tailored. As for the rest of the collection, it had Lim's now signature loose fit and slouchy aesthetic, a very New York City-downtown feel. And that is exactly Lim's target client, with clothes that retail lower than other runway brands, his urban inspired clothes tailor to those who love good clothes at prices that won't make them choose between this month's rent or a new shirt.
