RUNWAY: Rick Owens FW11
Rick Owens' Fall/Winter 2011 showed his skill at cutting fabric to look sleek and post-modern. The models had wind swept, over-gelled hair, and the clothes they wore down the runway were chic, with the outerwear stealing the show. Rick Owens rarely shows much embellishment other than a leather accent or minute detailing that is hard to capture in photos but he did attach mirrored panels to some of his pieces, making them look like pieces from a futuristic Sci-Fi movie. Also used to accentuate the collection was fur, a trend that continues through from Milan to Paris. The finale of the show was surprisingly light, airy, and peppered with lots of white, a lovely departure for the generally all-black designer.
