RUNWAY: Moncler Gamme Bleu FW11

Full disclosure: we instantly loved this collection because we love equestrian-inspired clothes and we're Anglophiles. In any event, Thom Browne's bi-annual collection for Moncler Gamme Bleu in Milan is always a treat. The location is always innovative and fresh, while the clothes are sharp, sophisticated and injected with just the right amount of quirk to make one smile at the kitsch of the clothes.

English bloodhounds added an extra "cute" factor for the show as the models tried to walk as cool as they could while holding the leash of a very curious dog, wondering why there are so many flashing lights. (As an aside: the venue was so cold that many editors were given blankets to keep warm, maybe they should've given them Moncler jackets, non?) In any event, the clothes were smart and sleek from a quilted 3/4-length overcoat with a chunky fabric button belt, worn by Brian Davenport, to a series of red plaid outfits, which could be worn as the perfect outfit for a family Christmas gathering in the English countryside. With the equestrian-inspired clothes and the British references put aside, the collection was beautiful, wearable and fun and can be added to another win for Mr. Browne, who is off to Paris to put the finishing touches to the Fall/Winter 2011 collection for his eponymous line.
