RUNWAY: D&G FW11
The last time Domenico and Stefano presented a Fall/Winter menswear line, it was all about Alpine life: skiing, more skiing and...did we mention skiing? For 201, the skis are gone and what's presented are clothes that are fun and bright, full of willful irrelevance. The duo is hardly ever somber in their clothes. Italians know that life must be celebrated to its fullest, whether it's getting a snow-burn from being atop of a snow-addled mountain or channeling your childhood by wearing clothes that remind you of it such references to Mickey Mouse and soda (Coca-Cola in this case). For their diffusion line, Domenico and Stefano threw caution to the wind and fully embraced the dropped crotch pants that seemed to slip into in their premium line mere days ago. The opening look, worn by the impeccable David Agbodji, was full of wonderful irrelevance from the fur vest to the hunter-green pants that started out a loose then tapered and eventually were cropped just at the ankle, worn, of course, with a Coca-Cola print tee. The rest of the collection followed suit. Also worth noting are the metallic D&G co-branded headphones, a definite must-have for all the technology buffs out there.
