RUNWAY: Bottega Veneta FW11
Tomas Maier's design aesthetic is to create a piece, then stripping away all the unnecessary bulk and accouterments. What's left is a highly functional piece of clothing or accessory, created with the utmost care and most luxe fabrics. His FW11 collection is no different, starting out with wool/cashmere blend suits with subtle prints, creating an almost "just got caught in the rain so my suit looks darker in spots" look. The rest of the collection plays heavily on the dark grey color scheme, veering sharply from the color swatch by mixing the grey's and black's and navy's with tangerine, mustard, and a dark shade of cerulean. The overall effect of the collection is pared down luxury with splashes of color to keep the eye and body stimulated during the cold winter months. The footwear is, in our opinion, one of the highlights of any Bottega Veneta show and this show was absolutely no exception.
