While the runway show highlighted the evening-wear portion of this collection, there was a lot of product to take in. The one that made the biggest impact were the assymetrical puffers with kangaroo pockets. Props to Ford for trying something new but no matter the finish, they were a bit of an assault on the eyes. Now, he's come home, so to say (he's originally from Texas). Tonight marked the first ever stand-alone menswear runway show for Ford's eponymous label. The result was a who's-who in the celebrity and fashion world, all sitting front row and in their best Tom Ford outfit. The clothes in this FW18 collection were equally as glamorous with plenty of fabulously swanky evening jackets, a signature for the designer, as well as plenty of sportswear from beautifully tailored pants to flight jackets with fur detailing. Speaking of fur, Ford has recently become a Vegan and his aim is now to utilize less fur in his collection. In 2017, it was announced that Ford will also start to sell Tom Ford-branded underwear and what a better way to show off this new venture with a finale full of half-naked, hard-bodied models wearing said underwear, which offered plenty in terms of styles from glittery to animal print and everything in between, all paired with Ford's signature cashmere socks, of course.

Tom Ford's latest collection looked to his time in the 70s in New York, a time for debauchery and fun and juxtaposed it with his life now, with his son and partner. The results had hints of Andy Warhol's nights at Studio 54, like psychedelic tuxedo jackets and slim, body-conscious tailoring, as well as sportier looks, with plenty of denim, a new addition to the Tom Ford world of luxury. The black-and-white lookbook showcases Ford's designs: sleek, streamlined and luxurious. There are, of course, a handful of lush evening jackets in dizzying patterns, a nod to the 1960s inspiration. Last season he started offering denim, the season before he offered waxed leather sneakers. He continues the casual vibe with suede, fur-trimmed and leather outerwear, cut close to the body and harkened a 60s-cum-80s vibe: bohemian and excess melding together with a glorious luxurious finish, or bow, to tie it all together.

Tom Ford has always pushed boundaries between obscene and art, from his heyday at Gucci in the 90s to his eponymous label, which launched menswear in 2006. Eight years after launching a series of high end suits, tuxedos, and sportswear, Ford has expanded his offerings to include luxe sneakers in suede and waxed leather, as well as four styles of denim for men, appeasing the thirst of men around the world for a more casual wardrobe without compromising luxury. To help introduce these two new products, Ford snapped British model Harry Rowley in the American designer's classic shirts and ties, but also baring nearly everything as Harry tries on the denim and sneakers.

As Tom Ford slowly relaxes the reins at his eponymous label by not only putting on a womens runway show but now the American-born, London-based designer has released images of his latest men's collection mere days after the private appointments during LCM; previously the press had to wait months. The big story here is denim. Social media was abuzz with news that Tom Ford, he who makes James Bond look so effortless chic in beautifully cut suits, will be selling jeans!

Since the birth of his son, Tom Ford's collections have been more and more casual, from last season's luxe take on sneakers to this season's denim offerings. Why not? Ford admits that his suiting business is what he's known for so he conceivably does not need to show 20 looks every season with all the various kinds of suits he makes. Instead his focus now lands on sportswear and it's smart since that's the part of the Tom Ford world not many men know about. The result this season a Western-tinged collection of well cut, straight leg denim, great outerwear and enough sex appeal to make it clearly known that this is Tom Ford. There are, of course, a handful of patterned jackets and suits so not to throw the entire men's fashion world upside down.
