An explosion of pattern - mostly animalia - overtook MSGM's Spring/Summer 2020 collection, which also happened to be the Italian label's 10 year anniversary collection. So it was a joyous, life-embracing collection full of fun, summery clothes meant to be taken outside in the sun, with bold colors and loud patterns smiling back at the sun.

MSGM's high-octane lifestyle aesthetic takes on racing and, inexplicably, graphic novels for its FW19 collection with words such as "turbo" emblazoned on tops and caps while fiery prints littered the latter half of the collection, bringing home the idea of high speed racing and the aforementioned graphic print inspiration. Some key pieces included a great oversized Chesterfield, though partially hidden underwear a like-colored puffer, as well as the effusive hued looks in the middle of the collection shades of pink, orange and red, the latter being the highlight of the collection.

MSGM's latest collection was strongly nostalgic and looked to Saturday morning cartoons, 80s kitsch and tropical print shirts as the foundation of its expansive Spring/Summer 2019 collection.

A slew of fresh faces donned MSGM's FW18 collection; so fest because they were real Italian university students who were scouted all over the boot-shaped country. The resulting collection had a strong collegiate feel with logos emblazoned on the clothing while a retro vibe ran through most of the collection, resulting in looser fits and brighter colors like silky pinks or mustard hues.

An explosion of patterns, prints and branding were the three pillars that made up MSGM's latest collection. There were plaids, stripes, MSGM patterns on everything from socks to shirts on a myriad of athletic minded clothes.

MSGM's athletic-minded FW17 collection offered high-end sweatsuits, cropped bottoms, and an ample outerwear selection from plaid overcoats to leather bombers to puffers.

How does the modern man dress? Is he going to dress like his father before him? Or will he branch out into his own style? MSGM's proposition is that he do the latter and to answer their own question, the label is offering updated takes on classic pieces from a man's wardrobe but creating them with new, quirky details and proportions. Shirts were oversized and hanging off the models while knits were shrunken, sometimes cropped, and denim looking intentionally stodgy. Everything in the collection was off kilter and put together, it worked in an obtuse but interesting way.

Athleticism and the 1990s had a strong influence at MSGM. There were track pants, oversized proportions and a rugged, street-inspired aesthetic to the label latest collection. To balance out the very casual looks were modern iterations of classic coats like a trenches and topcoats.

Japanese fashion is one of the most dynamic in the world. There are so many divergent styles under the world of Japanese fashion and MSGM attempts to reimagine it for SS16. Thankfully, this was no Lolita collection. Instead, Massimo Giornetti looked to martial arts for inspiration, Judo, to be exact. So, there were judo pants, rope belts and the like throughout the collection, as well as ribbed knits, and a calvacade of stripes. There were also dressier options, like a double breasted suit with a judo pant but the collection's sportier aspects ruled supreme, all in a richly saturated natural hues, like one might see at sunset.

MSGM took us to school for FW15, elementary school to be exact. Simple shapes like stars and children's toys like rockets and robots were seen on shirts and coats in the collection that proffered utilitarian designs, like a sublime leather jacket on Adrien Sahores. The show ended with a flurry of confections in the form of leopard fur coats and a cacophony of patterns.

Italy is one of the only nations in the European Union that doesn't allow some form of same-sex marriage or civil union. This fact is the base for MSGM's FW14 campaign, the label decided to put same-sex models kissing and embracing, in the hopes of normalizing the image to the often times too conservative Italian public. The men's campaign stars Dominik Bauer and Mariano Ontanon and is shot by Giampaolo Sgura.

It was all about being young and free at MSGM's Spring/Summer 2015 runway show. Tropical prints and a bold mix of patterns ran rampant through the collection that took a laid back take on tailoring, opting instead for graphic tees, roomy shirts and casual bottoms.

Youthful was the buzzword at MSGM's FW14 runway show. Sporty looks on models included marble-like patterns on slightly oversized coats while tartan patterns played a big role as well.
