There was also a zen-like vibe from the collection that befitted the striking outdoors location and complemented the collection itself.

Crinkled suits in light fabrics like linen started off Issey Miyake's SS17 collection, focusing on texture, while by the end, a flush of boldly patterned looks gave way to more traditional tailoring with a boxy silhouette.

Activewear was a focus of Issey Miyake's latest collection. The body conscious collection highlighted an awareness that activewear and fashion are not be mutually exclusive. There were cycling shorts paired with an oversized blouson, as well as a patterned outfit that looked like a heat signature map, like one might see from an athlete after training. Coats were generally oversized an looked comfortable, with utility a focus rather than outre details.

Birds of a feather do flock together, especially at Issey Miyake's Spring/Summer 2016. To be specific, these particular birds seen on everything from shirts to coats to pants are parrots. The exotic birds helped convey the vibrant sounds and colors of South and Central America, with flashes of yellow, magenta and orange, seen throughout the collection. Roomy clothes proliferated the collection, from sleeveless kimonos to drape-y knits to all those parrot-printed shirts flying in the wind.

Bold graphic suits and sportswear shined through at the latest Issey Miyake collection. Whether it was subtle windowpane patterned suits or a pattern that looked like white noise or static, the effect was softened by fluid scarves tied around models necks, sometimes matching the pattern on a shirt or bag. The result was a surprisingly light and flamboyant collection from the Japanese label.

In recent memory, Issey Miyake's mens collection has been a blip on the radar during Paris Fashion Week, but no longer since its new men's designer has elevated the collection with an airy and sexy collection. Tropical themes shined through via fun prints like pineapples and bananas while smiling models injected life onto the collection that saw an easy approach to tailoring while utilizing unique fabrics to create interesting textures.

Nature was a strong focus at the Issey Miyake FW14 show today. It came in the form of wavy colors, possibly seen after a volcanic explosion. Meanwhile, iridescent fabrics shimmer and shined through as more demure designs such a striped trenchcoat or oversized leather coat showcased the designer's sporty-meets-sartorial tailoring skills.

If Issey Miyake's SS14 show looked slightly different than previous showings that's because the Japanese label has a new menswear designer in Yusuke Takahashi. Takahahi created a collection that seemed to be inspired by artists, minus any bohemian themes. Piet Mondrian-esque squares harkened not just the artist but Yves Saint Laurent's famous Mondrian collection to a plethora of paint splattered clothing that might've been inspired by Jackson Pollock's famous paintings.

A striking utilitarian collection emerged from the atelier at Issey Miyake. Elongated proportions were paired with loose fitting and casual trousers while outerwear was plentiful in shape, color and size. As the collection progressed, it turned more futuristic and sporty with translucent ponchos, colorblocked tops, running pants and a pair of cropped, oversized ski pants that are unforgiving if you don't have a tiny small waist.
