Andrea Pompilio's man is in love. The Italian designer's SS16 collection was a romantic ode to being young and in love. In step with that idea was a strong collegiate vibe, seen through striped shirts and pants, while thick rimmed glasses hinted that these strapping young men may be poets or painters, with the oversized satchels they carry possibly holding pens, papers or art supplies. In all, the collection was young and just a bit kitschy, with tee's emblazoned with "Love Me Forever or Never", and that summed up the collection in a nutshell.

Gloved models kicked off Andrea Pompilio's FW15 runway show. The sporty collection was rooted the 1950s/60s and of fighter pilots, complete with jumpsuits, sleek but roomy trousers and a plethora of color blocked jackets, many with a simple, elongating stripe along the side. The boxy outerwear, also of the same era, were a great addition to the collection, adding a fresh element to the collection.

It wasn't so long ago that Andrea Pompilio was a new name in the men's fashion circuit, showing in Florence then being tapped by Giorgio Armani to show his collection at Armani's massive runway space. Now he's the creative director of Canali, a venerable Italian suiting company. A triumphant collection for Pompilio and also for Milan, which needs more designers like Pompilio who'll bring a fresh look and a new perspective to the aging old guard.
