RUNWAY: Moncler Genius Project FW18
After the shuttering of Moncler Gamme Bleu and Gamme Rouge, Moncler needed to revamp their look. So it asked eight designers and labels to create new one-off collections and labeled them under the Genius label. The idea really is quite genius.
Moncler 1952
This collection had a very notable vintage inspiration from the chunky cords to Moncler's old school logo on a knit. There were the requisite puffers, most came with their signature sheen, while others were also reversible.
Moncler Grenoble
Moncler Grenoble is not a new line, per se, it is the Italian company's ski-inspired line but what made this FW18 collection different and special were all the cheery patterns on the puffers. Nothing skiing down a snowy mountain in brightly colored puffers, ski suits or a Hawaiian pattern puffer!
Moncler x Craig Green
British designer Craig Green's signature armor-inspired aesthetic made its way to Moncler this season with a thought-provoking collection about armor and protecting one's self from the elements. How many people will actually want to wear the full look and become a walking flotation device? That remains to be seen.
Moncler x Fragment Hiroshi Fujiwara
Fragment Hiroshi Fujiwara's collection for Mocnler was one of the most wearable with excellent separates. It showcased the designer's multi-faceted life as a musician, producer and designer and was the best at providing a wardrobe the modern man would want to wear, one that offers versatility and range.
Moncler x Palm Angels
What would Palm Angels' signature track suit look like if it was down? This would be your answer. The new label collaborated with Moncler to create a louche collection of puffy track suits and sweats.
