RUNWAY: Prada FW18
The business world is tough; there a lot of fluff pieces on the few success stories, those who come up from nothing to become a millionaire. However, the majority of people are stuck in the middle of the company. That seemed like the jump-off point at Miuccia
Prada's FW18 collection; these middle managers push paper, don't make enough money and are constantly waiting for their next vacation. To the latter point, there were brightly colored and mixed pattern shirts and pants that looked like ill-conceived vacation-wear while Prada's iconic nylon bags made a triumphant return. In lieu of just bags being made from the fabric, nylon was pervasive: coats, bags, pants, knits and even a vest that looked like a Kevlar vest. Nylon has long been seen as a fabric that isn't at all luxurious but Prada elevates it to the point that it's ubiquity, making it tantamount to have for (commercial) success; much like those middle managers, without whom those success-stories would be unable to achieve business success if it weren't middle men who keep the company steady.
