RUNWAY: Ermenegildo Zegna FW18
Inspired by the Italian Alps, where the Zegna family has a compound,
Alessandro Sartori offered a striking collection for
Ermenegildo Zegna that played on proportion, fit, and fabrics. Fall/Winter collections are often Zegna's strongest because of the luxurious fabrics they use and this season was no different. What was different, however, was the technique used to dye these ultra luxurious fabrics. Rather than using traditional chemical dyes, they used items found in nature to color the clothes - think of how beets were used to turn cakes red for red velvet cake. This attention to detail is seen also in the clothes from a foil motif on an oversized coat or a bulbous half-zip puffer or the casual and chic sportswear Sartori and Zegna is known for. In all, it was a strong start to Milan Fashion Week.
