RUNWAY: Alexander McQueen FW18
Sarah Burton's collections for
Alexander McQueen stay true to the namesake designer's aesthetic but thankfully not too true, she adds her own uniqueness to it. For FW18, classic British tailoring was updated a la McQueen with beautifully printed suits in floral or ornate embroidery while oversized and dramatic parkas offered a utilitarian outerwear option. Then there was a double-collar peacoat with leather accents that looks sublime while a leather jacket was paired with a raincoat tied around the waist should an abrupt rainfall happen. Speaking of the waist, there was a business up top, party on the bottom-thing happening at McQueen as well. The top was prime and proper while bottoms were loungey and loose, often paired with sneakers (or trainers, if you will). This clothing mullet might seem a bit off putting but strangely enough, it's how more and more men are dressing so why not offer them a luxe version?
