RUNWAY: Dolce & Gabbana FW17
Princes and kings of social media descended down the opulent staircase at Dolce&Gabbana, wearing the Italian designing duo's busy collection. But first, an intro song by Austin Mahone (we assume Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes were busy), all the while previews of the models and social media famous faces flashed on screens above the audience, like the opening credits of a movie. Once the show finally started, Mahone continued to bump into models and hog the runway, a huge distraction when one is trying to pay attention to the clothes. That is, after all, why the hundreds of people have converged in Milan this weekend, someone should've told the lad.Now for the clothes, they were bold and loud and, at times, insufferable, just like many of the Internet-famous men and women who appeared on the runway. It's curious why the label chose this route when the vast majority of fans, and there are millions of them, that follow these individuals can barely afford to buy a beanie from the label. Is the exposure all that matters to the duo? It's not like Dolce & Gabbana don't create an "alta sartoria" collection to their elite clients, which also allows them to be more creative with their designs. Here, it just seemed like they were trying too hard and after awhile, all you wanted was for the show to end. That's the good thing about watching a livestream, all you have to do is click the "X" and the nightmare is over.
