RUNWAY: Prada SS16
The show space that Miuccia Prada chooses is almost as intriguing as the collections themselves. For the SS16 men's and women's collection, the show space was enclosed in a series of dangling frosted glass walls, behind which one can only vaguely make out what the other side is doing. The collection was subversive with a litany of leather shorts and jackets amongst a flurry of boots paired with two pairs of socks, with clothes seemingly slipping off the backs of the models, ready to undress and do sordid things behind those frosted walls.
Throughout the collection, there was also a sense of déjà vu, as if the designer was looking through her own archive and wondering how today's man would wear some of those pieces. It's an interesting thought since today's man, now more than ever, are more conscious and thoughtful about how they want to dress. There were topstitched shorts, low cut and color blocked tanks, and slinky shirts, all of which ticked and tied with some of Prada's biggest hits of season's past.
