RUNWAY: Christopher Shannon SS16

Christopher Shannon's SS16 collection offered gorgeous and voluminous coats, in technical fabrics like neoprene, while knits with cigarette lighters, frosted hair and litany of zippers and tape highlighted Shannon's narrative. The message seemed to center around the idea using of clothing as armor to portray a certain image meanwhile the wearer is damaged and barely holding it all together, like the duck-taped tops. It all tied together like a fun, and slightly irrelevant, bow, or in this case, the strap of a bra. The fluid proportions and play on DIY design resulted in an astute observation from the designer that no matter how put together we may look, we're all a bit of a hot mess.
