Belgian designer Raf Simons opened his menswear atelier to American artist Ruby Sterling for a truly collaborative collection for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2014 season. The first thing to notice are the American flags draped from the ceiling, noting that there was clearly an American perspective in the collection but it was smokescreen because this collection was anything but an ode to Americana. As wiry models marched out in oversized coats with artsy appliqué or ceramic-like patchwork or paint splattered clothes, it was hard to glean where Sterling's influence ended and Simons' started. Multi-colored stripes were seen throughout the collection and created a simple but effective detail on the dark coats they were seen on. Other notable pieces included the chunky soled shoes, roll neck knits, and incredible graphic prints.
