RUNWAY: Gieves & Hawkes FW14

Bespoke suits are Gieves & Hawkes' bread and butter. However, in recent years the Savile Row retailer has begun to show stand-alone presentations for its ready-to-wear business. Taking out the months-long process of creating a suit from scratch, Gieves & Hawkes creates chic iterations of those suits for the every man. At least the every man that can afford it. Lush fabrics like velvet and cashmere were front and center during the FW14 show while a slimmer and youthful silhouette was preferred to the more voluminous ones we've seen during LCM thus far. In all, the collection was every bit as dignified and well made as a bespoke suit but doesn't take months and endless fittings before one can wear it.
