RUNWAY: Dries Van Noten FW14
Belgian designer
Dries Van Noten challenged menswear once again at his FW14 collection. A relatively new term "peacock men" was the perfect description for Van Noten's latest offering. He played on structure, print, color and fur; ultimately, it was about reassessing masculinity. The end result was a wonderful array of color, slightly flamboyant (not to the point of excess) fashion for the dandy who enjoys a more relaxed tailoring without compromising structure and strong shoulders, should one require it to finish a look. The harder, more urbane looks were the strongest; for example, a sleeveless, mixed media coat with fur detailing that was paired with loose pants with a camouflage-like pattern.
