RUNWAY: Dior Homme FW14
Since ascending to the pinnacle of men's fashion at
Dior Homme,
Kris Van Assche has had to redefine the code's of the house his former mentor and predecessor made synonymous with the name Dior Homme. It's been up and down since then but of late, the Belgian designer has upped the ante. With his FW14 collection, there was a level of elegance meets street that's been lacking at Dior Homme but it was present today and it was a triumph to behold. Fisherman jackets were repurposed into suit jackets, while pinstripe suits took on a new shape with skinny lapels and great reinterpretations of the classic pinstripes. Fur lined coats were luxe and had an air of flamboyance while a full length fur coat was a vision. This was one of the best collections Van Assche has created for Dior Homme in a long time and maybe it's because his former mentor is at a rival house, but if this is what happens when two competitive people fight for supremacy, we welcome it.
