RUNWAY: Carven FW14
A saloon was the backdrop of
Carven's Fall/Winter 2014 show that was inspired by 1920s New York. There was a subversive thread that ran throughout the collection, materialized via leather blousons. Though the designer,
Guillaume Henry, stayed true to his quirky and French vision for Carven, the addition of a mobster vibe trafficking illegal alcohol in a speakeasy, gave the collection that extra inspiration to push the label forward. The collection is filled with black tones but the addition of great fabrics like a tweed topcoat, and just a bit of plaid invigorated the collection from being too somber.
