RUNWAY: Salvatore Ferragamo SS14
A surprisingly sporty collection was created by
Ferragamo's
Massimiliano Giornetti. Bright and effervescent hues of orange, blue and green were chosen to complement Giornetti's designs that ranged from oversized coats and fluid shorts, clearly a trend even though it's only day 2 of Milan Fashion Week. As for Ferragamo's bread and butter offerings, suits were relaxed a bit boxier than previous collections while footwear was similarly sporty, favoring sandals over loafers or mocassins; a clear moto jacket was surprisingly chic on
Zakaria Khiare and was interesting to see on the usually conservative house's runway. In all, the collection was a departure from what we're used to seeing at Ferragamo (a large number of suits and accessories) but since their IPO, Ferragamo has been able to establish itself thanks to the influx of money and, we assume, can create a more fashion-thinking collection for the runway while a separate division works in tandem to churn out client favorits likes chic loafers and modern suits.
