RUNWAY: Thom Browne FW13
American designer
Thom Browne had a strong angular vision for Fall/Winter 2013. It was equal parts Amish and 1980s shoulder pads. Square hats, in lieu of circular wide brimmed hats, were showcased with square shouldered jackets. Plenty of quilts were shown, which softened the severity of the square shoulders. Browne's signature three stripes were seen on armbands and trim, also seen were beautiful furs on elongated sleeveless vests. Browne seemed to think more highly of Amish length skirts for FW13 instead of his signature cropped and tapered tailoring, like the one who wore in his finale bow. It was another intriguing collection from the man who continues to push menswear into boundaries that we never thought should or could be explored.
