RUNWAY: Philipp Plein FW13
An anarchistic tone pervaded over
Philipp Plein's Fall/Winter 2013 runway show. Military tailoring was mixed with military-surplus inspired sportswear. All of this would have been quite alluring, had it not been for the excessive amounts of suggestive violence. The topic of guns, at least in the United States, has been under strict scrutiny since the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut in December 2012, exactly a month ago as of this writing. This collection's lack of tact when it comes to the matter of violence in light of recent events is astonishing. A well tailored and smart collection was mired and degraded by fake guns and sheer ignorance on the part of the creative team to be so disconnected with current events; they should be ashamed.
